What is the difference between Pilates and weight training?
Unlike weight training, where typically one muscle group is focused on at a time, Pilates focuses on the body as a whole. Each 55 minute workout will be full-body. Instead of doing multiple repetitions with weights, fewer precise moves are performed. The benefit of this is long, lengthened muscles verses bulking up. With over 500 exercises, one is highly unlikely to become unchallenged or bored.
What should I wear to Pilates?
You should wear comfortable and fitted workout attire. Socks with grip on the bottom are required for safety. (Grip socks are available for sale)
I’ve never done Pilates before, where should I start?
You should start with an introductory session. This is a one-on-one session to learn the Pilates principles and apparatus. After your introductory session, your instructor can recommend how to move forward with your fitness goals.
How often should I do Pilates?
The ideal number of times to attend class is 2-3 times per week. However, some students choose to come in daily and some once a week in combination with their other cross-training.
